Question 2

What is the adult (20 and over) breath alcohol limit for riding in New Zealand?

Accepted Answer

250 mcg per litre of breath

For riders aged 20 and over, the breath alcohol limit is 250 micrograms per litre (the blood limit is 50 mg per 100 ml).

Question 3

Why is alcohol especially dangerous for motorcyclists compared with car drivers?

Accepted Answer

It impairs balance and coordination, which riders depend on to stay upright

Accepted Answer

Not ride until they are sure the medicine is not affecting them

Answer

Riding while impaired by any drug, including prescription medicine, is illegal and dangerous. Check with a doctor or pharmacist and don't ride while affected.

Question 5

Which is an early warning sign of fatigue while riding?

Accepted Answer

Yawning, sore eyes and drifting in your lane

Answer

Yawning, heavy or sore eyes, slower reactions and drifting in the lane all show fatigue. Stop and rest straight away.
