What is NCLEX-PN?

The  NCLEX-PN is the nursing licensure exam for those who want to be certified practical and vocational nurses. They can choose to complete a program in Licensed in Practical Nursing (LPNs) or Licensed Vocational Nursing (LVNs).

Furthermore, the LVN test is a computerized adaptive test that often contains 85 to 205 questions. You cannot take it in paper-and-pencil or oral examination formats. The maximum time allowed for the test is 5 hours. 

NCLEX-PN questions

The NCLEX questions for LPN are mostly similar to the NCLEX-RN because both professions deal with the same principles of patient care. The difference is that an LPN is under the supervision of an RN or an MD. It also gives more emphasis on coordinated care. The test is composed of 4 content areas that further breakdown the NCLEX into categories.

How to study for NCLEX?

There are so many materials that are at your disposal, from NCLEX-PN reviews, NCLEX sample questions to NCLEX-PN exam crams, and NCLEX-PN study guides. You can make your preparations by studying as many of them as you can. 

The NCLEX review questions, for example, can make you understand what answers the test makers expect you to give. You’ll learn how you will approach certain NCLEX-LVN questions.

You can also take NCLEX prep courses if you want. You’ll have time reviewing the content, and it will give you a summary notes of all the subjects. You can use them throughout your study period. 

Another thing that you can do is to familiarize yourself with the question types. Most of the questions will be multiple choice type. But there are also other types, such as multiple response, hot spot,  fill-in-the-blank, audio, exhibit, and drag-and-drop response.

Take note that when taking the exam, you must be able to pace yourself. It’s important to remember that you have 5 hours to take the test. At the beginning of the NCLEX-PN exam, you have to answer 85 questions, and after reaching these points, the computer or the system will determine whether you are above or below the passing standard. If you are below the passing rate, you have to continue answering up to 205 questions.      

How hard is the NCLEX-PN exam? What are some tips to pass it?

It won’t be if you have made the necessary preparations for mastery of NCLEX-PN. You need to review your notes from nursing school or make use of NCLEX review courses. You can also answer LPN practice tests or LVN practice tests. It will increase your chances of passing the national certification exam.

Should I become an ADN or an LPN?

It depends on what you want. There are many ways in which you can be part of the nursing profession, LPNs/LVNs, and ADNs are just some of the choices that you have. Why do some people not consider LPNs to be real nurses?

The reason is that LPNs have less clinical training and education as compared to other nursing professions. But, this kind of thinking must not be upheld. LPNs are considered nurses. Each nursing profession is different from each other. The important thing is that working in the healthcare field is one of the most rewarding experiences. Is it possible to change a PN license to RN?

You have to go back to nursing school and enroll in an RN program. Although both professions have their own similarities, they also have their own requirements. To become an RN, you must have the required education and clinical training. After finishing your studies, you have to take the NCLEX-RN to practice.   

How to study for my LPN entrance?

Before you can be an LPN, you need to enroll in LPN programs to obtain the educational requirement. You need to take the LPN entrance exam first. To pass the test, you need to take note of these subjects: Science, Verbal, and Math. It’s also important to manage your time when you take the test. It is advisable to answer each question for one minute. You can take practice tests to make it less difficult. Some concepts might also be hard to understand, so it’s important that you prepare for it beforehand.
