LPC — The Licensed Professional Counselor credential is obtained in most U.S. states through the National Counselor Examination (NCE) or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE), both administered by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC); the NCE consists of 200 items (160 scored + 40 pretest) across 8 CACREP domains with a 3-hour 45-minute time limit and a criterion-referenced passing standard set per state.
