Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification FREE Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt Measure Phase Tools Questions and Answers 2 — Questions and Answers
Question 1: Which tool is used to verify that a measurement system produces consistent and accurate results?
- Gage R&R (Correct answer)
- Pareto Chart
- Control Chart
- Fishbone Diagram
Correct answer: Gage R&R
Gage R&R (Repeatability and Reproducibility) evaluates the consistency and accuracy of a measurement system.
Question 2: What does a data collection plan primarily define?
- What data to collect, how, when, and from whom (Correct answer)
- The project budget and timeline
- The root causes of defects
- The final control limits for a process
Correct answer: What data to collect, how, when, and from whom
A data collection plan specifies the what, how, when, where, and who of gathering reliable data for analysis.
Question 3: In the Measure phase, what is the purpose of calculating process sigma?
- To quantify how well a process meets customer specifications (Correct answer)
- To identify the root cause of variation
- To prioritize improvement projects
- To create a process flowchart
Correct answer: To quantify how well a process meets customer specifications
Process sigma quantifies the capability of a process by measuring how many defects occur per million opportunities relative to specifications.
Question 4: Which type of data represents counts or categories, such as pass/fail or defect type?
- Discrete (attribute) data (Correct answer)
- Continuous (variable) data
- Ordinal data
- Ratio data
Correct answer: Discrete (attribute) data
Discrete or attribute data consists of counts or categories and cannot be meaningfully subdivided.
Question 5: What is the primary purpose of a checksheet in the Measure phase?
- To systematically collect and organize data at the point of occurrence (Correct answer)
- To display the frequency distribution of data
- To show the relationship between two variables
- To track process performance over time
Correct answer: To systematically collect and organize data at the point of occurrence
A checksheet is a structured form used to collect data in real time at the location where it is generated.
Question 6: What does DPMO stand for and why is it used in the Measure phase?
- Defects Per Million Opportunities — to standardize defect rates across processes (Correct answer)
- Defects Per Measured Output — to track production volume
- Data Points per Management Objective — to align metrics with goals
- Deviation Per Mean Observation — to calculate process spread
Correct answer: Defects Per Million Opportunities — to standardize defect rates across processes
DPMO stands for Defects Per Million Opportunities and provides a standardized way to compare defect rates across different processes.
