Two resistors of 6Ω and 3Ω are connected in parallel. Using the formula 1/R_total = 1/R₁ + 1/R₂, what is the total resistance?
Answer: 2 Ω
1/R = 1/6 + 1/3 = 1/6 + 2/6 = 3/6 = 1/2. R = 2 Ω.
If a line has slope 3 and passes through point (1, 4), what is its equation in slope-intercept form?
Answer: y = 3x + 1
y - 4 = 3(x - 1) → y = 3x - 3 + 4 → y = 3x + 1.
Solve the system of equations: 2x + y = 11 and x - y = 1. What is y?
Answer: 3
Add: 3x = 12 → x = 4. Then y = x - 1 = 3.
The power formula is P = I²R. If current I = 3A and resistance R = 8Ω, what is the power?
Answer: 72 W
P = I²R = (3)² × 8 = 9 × 8 = 72 W.
Solve: √(x + 5) = 4
Answer: x = 11
Square both sides: x + 5 = 16. x = 11.
A ladder leans against a wall. The base is 6 feet from the wall and the ladder is 10 feet long. Using a² + b² = c², how high does it reach?
Answer: 8 feet
6² + h² = 10² → 36 + h² = 100 → h² = 64 → h = 8 feet.
