A map has north pointing up. You walk north for 4 blocks, turn right, walk 3 blocks, then turn right again and walk 4 blocks. Which direction are you now facing?
Answer: South
Starting facing north, turn right = east, walk; turn right again = south; you are now facing south.
A cube's opposite faces always sum to 7 (standard die). If the top shows 5, what is on the bottom?
Answer: 2
On a standard die, opposite faces sum to 7; 7 − 5 = 2, so 2 is on the bottom.
A 2D net is folded into a triangular prism. How many faces does a triangular prism have?
Answer: 5
A triangular prism has 2 triangular bases and 3 rectangular sides, totaling 5 faces.
A path goes: 3 steps east, 4 steps north, then straight back to the start. How long is the return path?
Answer: 5 steps
The east and north steps form the legs of a right triangle; hypotenuse = √(3² + 4²) = √25 = 5 steps.
A shape has rotational symmetry of order 4. Through how many degrees does each rotation turn it onto itself?
Answer: 90°
Order 4 rotational symmetry means 4 equal rotations complete a full 360°; 360° ÷ 4 = 90°.
An architect's drawing is at scale 1:100. A wall measures 2.5 cm on the drawing. How long is the real wall?
Answer: 2.5 m
Scale 1:100 means 1 cm on the drawing = 100 cm (1 m) in reality; 2.5 cm × 100 = 250 cm = 2.5 m.
