Point P has coordinates (−3, 4). In which quadrant does P lie?
Answer: Quadrant II
A point with a negative x-coordinate and positive y-coordinate lies in Quadrant II.
A cylinder has a radius of 3 and a height of 10. What is its volume?
Answer: 90π
Volume of a cylinder = πr²h = π(9)(10) = 90π.
The angles of a triangle are in the ratio 1:2:3. What is the measure of the largest angle?
Answer: 90°
The angles sum to 180°; with ratio 1:2:3 (6 total parts), each part = 30°, so the largest angle = 3 × 30° = 90°.
A rectangle has vertices at (0,0), (5,0), (5,4), and (0,4). What is the length of its diagonal?
Answer: √41
Diagonal = √(5² + 4²) = √(25 + 16) = √41.
If the sum of the interior angles of a polygon is 540°, how many sides does the polygon have?
Answer: 5
Sum of interior angles = (n − 2) × 180°; setting this equal to 540° gives n − 2 = 3, so n = 5.
What is the midpoint of the segment connecting (2, 4) and (8, 10)?
Answer: (5, 7)
Midpoint = ((x₁+x₂)/2, (y₁+y₂)/2) = ((2+8)/2, (4+10)/2) = (5, 7).
