Preparing for your Ontario G2 road test starts with mastering the knowledge test you took at the G1 stage โ and this free PDF brings those same topics into a printable, offline-friendly format. Whether you're reviewing during a commute or sitting down for a focused study session, the G2 practice test PDF covers every subject tested in Ontario's written knowledge examination.
Ontario's graduated licensing system (GLS) requires drivers to pass a G1 knowledge test before earning their G1 licence. After holding the G1 for at least 12 months โ or 8 months with an approved driver education course โ you become eligible for the G2 road test (the in-car driving evaluation). This PDF helps you lock in the knowledge you need so the driving portion is your only remaining hurdle.
The knowledge test is drawn from the Ontario Driver's Handbook. The PDF practice questions mirror the real exam across all major topic areas.
You must recognize regulatory signs (stop, yield, speed limits), warning signs (curves, school zones, railway crossings), and information signs by shape, color, and meaning. Pavement markings โ solid lines, broken lines, arrows, and pedestrian crossings โ are also tested.
Questions cover traffic light sequences, flashing signals, pedestrian signals, and four-way stop procedures. Right-of-way at intersections, roundabouts, school buses (red lights = stop in both directions), and emergency vehicles (pull to the right and stop) are all fair game.
Ontario default urban speed limit is 50 km/h; playground zones 15 km/h; school zones 40 km/h. The 2-second following rule applies in normal conditions and extends to 4 seconds or more in rain, snow, or fog. Questions test your ability to calculate safe following distances and identify when to increase them.
G1 drivers must be accompanied by a fully licensed driver with at least 4 years of experience and a BAC of 0.05 or less. G1 drivers may not drive on 400-series highways or high-speed expressways without a qualified supervisor. G2 drivers must maintain a zero BAC at all times and face the passenger restriction described above.
Expect questions on passing cyclists (1-metre clearance), yielding to pedestrians in crosswalks, safely sharing lanes with motorcycles, and the dangers of large truck blind spots. Key Highway Traffic Act provisions โ such as distracted driving rules and seatbelt requirements โ also appear.
The PDF is perfect for offline study, but combining it with timed online practice gives you the best preparation. Our G2 practice test simulates the real DriveTest format โ 40 questions, mixed road signs and rules, with instant feedback on every answer. Use the PDF to study concepts and the online tests to check your exam readiness under real conditions. Most test-takers who pass on the first attempt report completing at least 5 full practice runs before their appointment.
