Question 1

What system in Volkswagen vehicles controls the airbag deployment?

Accepted Answer

Answer

The airbag control module (also known as the Restraint System Control Module or SRS module) is the dedicated system in Volkswagen vehicles responsible for controlling airbag deployment. It continuously monitors various crash sensors throughout the vehicle. In the event of an impact meeting specific criteria, the module processes the sensor data and triggers the deployment of the appropriate airbags and seatbelt pretensioners to protect occupants.

Question 2

Which component is responsible for controlling the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) in Volkswagen vehicles?

Accepted Answer

Answer

While there might be a dedicated TPMS control module or the system might be integrated with the ABS/ESP control unit, the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) serves as the central brain that oversees and coordinates various vehicle systems, including the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS). The ECU processes data from the TPMS sensors or related modules and alerts the driver to any pressure discrepancies, ensuring proper tire inflation and safety.

Question 3

How does the Volkswagen engine management system adjust fuel delivery?

Accepted Answer

Answer

The Volkswagen engine management system adjusts fuel delivery primarily through the fuel injectors, which are precisely controlled by the Engine Control Unit (ECU). The ECU receives data from numerous sensors (e.g., MAF, O2, throttle position) and calculates the optimal amount of fuel required. It then commands the fuel injectors to open for a specific duration (pulse width), delivering the exact quantity of fuel needed for efficient combustion.

Question 4

Which technology is used in Volkswagen vehicles to reduce emissions from the exhaust system?

Accepted Answer

Answer

The Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system is a key technology used in many Volkswagen vehicles to reduce harmful emissions, particularly nitrogen oxides (NOx). By recirculating a portion of the exhaust gases back into the engine's combustion chambers, the EGR system lowers combustion temperatures, which in turn significantly reduces the formation of NOx, contributing to cleaner exhaust.

Question 5

Which Volkswagen vehicle system controls the automatic braking functionality?

Accepted Answer

Answer

The Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) system is the Volkswagen vehicle system specifically designed to control automatic braking functionality for collision avoidance. This system uses sensors like radar or cameras to detect potential frontal collisions with other vehicles or pedestrians. If a collision risk is identified and the driver doesn't react, AEB automatically applies the brakes to reduce impact speed or prevent the accident entirely.
