REAL ID-compliant cards meet federal security standards and are required for certain federal activities, such as flying domestically or entering secure federal facilities, starting May 7, 2025.
Utah’s REAL ID-compliant cards are marked with a gold or black star in the upper right corner, distinguishing them from non-compliant cards.
Applicants must present proof of identity (e.g., passport or birth certificate), proof of Social Security Number (e.g., SSN card), and two documents showing Utah residency (e.g., utility bills or lease agreements) to obtain a REAL ID.
A REAL ID is not a substitute for a passport and cannot be used for international travel. It is only valid for domestic flights and access to secure federal facilities.
If you do not have a REAL ID-compliant card, you must present alternative identification, such as a passport, for federally regulated purposes like flying domestically. If you do not have a REAL ID-compliant card, you must present alternative identification, such as a passport, for federally regulated purposes like flying domestically. If you do not have a REAL ID-compliant card, you must present alternative identification, such as a passport, for federally regulated purposes like flying domestically.
