Sharing everything I wish I knew before my NCCER Core - National Center for Construction Education and Research Core Certification exam day. Post your own tips below.

What to bring:
  • Government ID (two forms recommended — some centers ask for a backup)
  • Confirmation email printed AND on your phone
  • Nothing else — most centers don't allow bags, phones, or notes in the testing room

What to expect:
  • Arrive 15-30 minutes early for check-in (biometrics at some centers)
  • You'll get a locker for your stuff
  • Scratch paper or whiteboard may be provided — ask at check-in
  • Breaks are allowed but the clock keeps running (learned this the hard way)

Mindset:
The practice tests at https://practicetestgeeks.com/nccer-core-national-center-for-construction-education-and-research-core-certification will have you better prepared than most people in the room. Trust your prep and don't second-guess answers you were confident on.

Solid breakdown. I'd add: the night before, don't cram. Do one easy practice set just to stay warm, then sleep. Your brain consolidates material during sleep better than it does during a last-minute review session.

Appreciate you sharing the failure story. Most threads are just people celebrating passes and it makes you feel like everyone else has it figured out. The struggle is real for a lot of us.
