Sharing everything I wish I knew before my NCCER Core - National Center for Construction Education and Research Core Certification exam day. Post your own tips below.
What to bring:
What to expect:
Mindset:
The practice tests at https://practicetestgeeks.com/nccer-core-national-center-for-construction-education-and-research-core-certification will have you better prepared than most people in the room. Trust your prep and don't second-guess answers you were confident on.
What to bring:
- Government ID (two forms recommended — some centers ask for a backup)
- Confirmation email printed AND on your phone
- Nothing else — most centers don't allow bags, phones, or notes in the testing room
What to expect:
- Arrive 15-30 minutes early for check-in (biometrics at some centers)
- You'll get a locker for your stuff
- Scratch paper or whiteboard may be provided — ask at check-in
- Breaks are allowed but the clock keeps running (learned this the hard way)
