Finally passed my TDVL exam after failing twice — here's what helped

So I just got my results this morning and I actually passed. I can't believe it honestly. This was my third attempt and I was starting to think maybe this certification just wasn't for me. The first two times I went in underprepared — I skimmed through some PDFs, watched a couple YouTube videos, and figured that'd be enough. Spoiler: it wasn't. Failed with a 61 and then a 64. Passing is 70.

What changed this time was actually being systematic about it. I found a solid TDVL practice test online and did timed runs every evening for three weeks straight. That alone showed me exactly where my weak spots were — for me it was the regulatory compliance section and anything involving documentation timelines. I also went through a proper TDVL study guide instead of random notes, which helped me see how the topics connect rather than just memorizing isolated facts.

If you're just starting out, my biggest TDVL exam tip is don't underestimate the volume of procedural knowledge they test. It's not just theory. Happy to answer questions if anyone's prepping right now.

This is really encouraging to read. I'm scheduled for my first attempt in six weeks and I'm honestly terrified. Can I ask — how many hours a week were you putting in during those three weeks? I'm working full time and can only realistically do maybe 45 minutes to an hour on weeknights. Wondering if that's enough or if I need to find more time on weekends.

Congrats! I passed mine about four months ago and the practice tests really are the key. I did at least 200 practice questions before sitting. The real exam felt noticeably harder than the free stuff I found, but the paid resources were closer to the actual difficulty. Also, the documentation section tripped up everyone in my study group — definitely spend extra time there.

45 minutes a night is enough if you're consistent and focused. Skip the passive reading, do active recall — practice questions only. I passed first try doing exactly that routine for a month. Quality over quantity.
