Finally passed TDC after failing twice — here's what actually helped

Okay so I've been lurking here for months and figured it was time to actually contribute something useful. I failed the TDC exam back in November and again in February — both times I thought I was ready and both times I walked out feeling like I'd studied the completely wrong things. The official materials are honestly pretty vague about what's actually tested heavily.

What finally clicked for me was finding a decent TDC practice test that mimicked the real question style. The actual exam loves scenario-based questions, not just definitions. I also spent about three weeks going through a proper study guide that broke down the coding and documentation sections separately instead of lumping everything together. That structure made a huge difference for me personally.

My biggest exam tip: don't skip the ethics and compliance module even if it feels like common sense stuff. I lost easy points there both times because I assumed I knew it. Ended up scoring a 78 on my third attempt — not a perfect pass but I'll absolutely take it. Happy to answer questions if anyone's prepping right now.

This is so validating to read honestly. I'm sitting for mine in six weeks and the scenario questions are killing me on practice runs. I keep second-guessing myself between two answers that both seem right. Did you find any particular topic area had more questions than you expected? I've been spending most of my time on the technical standards section but now I'm second-guessing that approach.

Congrats on passing! I took mine last year and totally agree about the ethics section — I almost skipped reviewing it because it seemed obvious. Also worth mentioning that the time management piece is real. I had like 12 questions left with 8 minutes to go and panicked. Practicing under timed conditions beforehand is something I'd tell anyone to do from day one, not just the week before.

Three attempts shows serious dedication — that's not easy to push through. The scenario-based format trips up so many people who just memorized definitions. Congrats on the pass and thanks for coming back to share what worked.
