Finally passed my TBI certification — here's what actually helped

Just got my results back yesterday and I passed! Honestly wasn't sure I would because I only had about three weeks to prep and life was crazy busy. I work full-time in a clinical setting so most of my studying happened on my lunch breaks and after the kids went to bed.

What made the biggest difference was drilling with a TBI practice test every few days instead of just reading through the study guide once. I was consistently scoring around 68-70% at first, which was discouraging, but by week two I got that up to 82-85% and felt way more confident. The domains I struggled with most were the cognitive rehabilitation sections and the documentation requirements — definitely spend extra time there if you're in the same boat.

For anyone just starting out, don't underestimate the case study questions. They take longer and you can burn through your time fast. Any questions on study timelines or what topics hit hardest? Happy to share more of what worked for me.

Congrats! I took mine about six months ago and totally agree on the case study piece. I actually timed myself doing practice questions in the last week before the real thing — like, strict clock running — and it made a huge difference on test day. Also the study guide I used had a section on family education and caregiver training that showed up way more than I expected. Don't skip that chapter.

Pick one resource and go deep rather than skimming three. Seriously. And do your practice tests under real conditions — no phone, timer on. That alone probably accounts for ten points on your actual score.

This is really encouraging, thank you for posting. I'm scheduled for mine in about five weeks and honestly feeling overwhelmed. Did you use any specific TBI exam tips resource or mostly just the official materials? I've been going back and forth between a couple of prep books and I feel like I'm spreading myself too thin instead of just picking one and sticking with it.
