Anyone found good free ASWB study resources besides the obvious ones?
I've already gone through the standard "aswb practice exam" results on Google and most of it is just selling prep courses. Looking for actual free resources.
What I've tried:
- Practice tests here (solid, especially for aswb practice exam)
- A few YouTube channels but the quality is all over the place
- Reddit threads from 2+ years ago (some outdated)
What I haven't tried yet:
- The official ASWB study guide — is it actually worth reading cover to cover?
- Library resources — anyone actually found useful materials there?
- Specific YouTube channels that cover aswb exam well
I don't mind paying for something that's genuinely better than free, but I want to max out free options first. Budget is tight.
What resources did you use that you'd actually recommend?
The aswb clinical exam helped me understand what the exam actually tests rather than just what the material covers.
For what it's worth from someone who's been through it:
The ASWB is one of those exams where the practice tests really do prepare you well. The style of questioning is pretty consistent. If you're comfortable with "aswb" material under timed conditions, you'll be fine.
The one thing I'd add: read the question stems very carefully. They sometimes add a qualifier that completely changes the right answer and it's easy to miss when you're going fast.
Also check whether you need to schedule the exam in advance — some testing centers book up 2-3 weeks out.
Quick data point: I spent 9 weeks studying, 1-2 hours a day, and passed with a 80%.
The section on aswb practice exam took me the longest to feel confident about. Eventually I just drilled practice questions until I could answer them without hesitation.
What testing center did you end up booking? Some of them have much shorter wait times than others right now.
Coming back to this thread — just passed my ASWB yesterday. Everything about the aswb practice test section is accurate. For anyone still studying, the state requirements was the closest thing to the real exam I found.
