Group fitness instructor with 3 years experience, primarily BODYPUMP and step aerobics. My gym is expanding its indoor cycling program and they want certified instructors. Looking at Schwinn Cycling certification vs Spinning (Mad Dogg) vs AFAA Cycle certification.
From an employer perspective do these certifications hold equal value? And is there a noticeable difference in the training quality between them?

The Schwinn certification is strong and the training is genuinely good — they go deep on biomechanics, cueing, and music programming. If the gym equipment is Schwinn it makes sense to match the certification.

Ask your gym which certification they prefer before investing. Some facilities have brand partnerships or instructor agreements tied to specific certifications. That decides it quickly.

Spinning (Mad Dogg) has the strongest brand recognition and most gyms with dedicated cycling studios prefer it. Schwinn is well-respected especially if the gym uses Schwinn bikes. AFAA Cycle is respected but less specialized.
