I've been a clinical data manager at a mid-sized CRO for 6 years and I'm working toward the CCDM. Most colleagues who have it say the exam is harder than expected, which isn't encouraging since I'm 3 weeks in and already feeling like I need more time.
Practice scores are 69-73% and the passing threshold is 70%. Data quality and edit check design questions are where I lose the most points - I design edit checks every day but the exam phrasing trips me up, especially around query management and sponsor-CRO responsibilities.
I'm doing 90 minutes daily on weekdays and a 4-hour block on Sundays. Five more weeks before exam day and I want to be consistently above 78% on practice sets before then.
The regulatory compliance section (21 CFR Part 11, GDPR for clinical data) could sink me. Anyone have a concise resource for electronic records requirements beyond the SCDM reference manual?
I was in the 69-73% range with 5 weeks out and finished at 77% on the real exam. The practice sets are harder than the actual test in my experience.
21 CFR Part 11 is tested heavily - probably 15-18% of my exam. Audit trail requirements for EDC systems came up at least 3 separate times.
The data management plan questions are underrated. Study the required DMP components per SCDM guidelines and you'll pick up easy points - that section is very formula-driven.
Don't sleep on CDASH standards questions. I didn't expect them to be as prominent as they were and I lost 3-4 points there that another week of prep would have fixed.
