I've done 11 practice tests now and my scores on MO exam questions are consistently lower than everything else.
I understand the concept when it's explained directly, but when it shows up in a scenario or application question I freeze up. It's like my brain knows the theory but can't connect it to a real situation fast enough.
Currently spending extra time on "MO" study material but I don't feel like it's clicking. Has anyone dealt with this and found a specific approach that helped?
Things I've tried:
- Re-reading the textbook section (not helping)
- More practice questions on this topic specifically (some improvement but not enough)
- Watching YouTube explanations (hit or miss)
Any advice on how to actually internalize this concept rather than just memorizing surface-level facts?
The free marketing officer research analysis helped me understand what the exam actually tests rather than just what the material covers.
Quick data point: I spent 4 weeks studying, 2-3 hours a day, and passed with a 85%.
The section on MO exam took me the longest to feel confident about. Eventually I just drilled practice questions until I could answer them without hesitation.
What testing center did you end up booking? Some of them have much shorter wait times than others right now.
For anyone finding this thread later: the MO is passable with consistent effort, even working full time. I studied 45 minutes a day for 12 weeks. The marketing officer advertising & campaign performance evaluation kept me honest about where my gaps were instead of just drilling things I already knew.
This thread saved me from making the same mistakes. The tip about exam prep being weighted heavily is accurate — I adjusted my study time based on this and it made a real difference. Also seconding the recommendation for marketing officer.
What helped me most with practice test specifically: stop thinking about it as a topic to memorize and start thinking about the types of decisions it's asking you to make. Once I shifted to that frame, my MO scores in that section jumped about 11 points within a week.
Failed my first attempt, came back to this thread for motivation. The advice about really understanding why wrong answers are wrong — not just memorizing the right ones — is the single best piece of advice I've seen for the MO. Rebuilding my prep around that principle now. Using marketing officer for the concept review.
