Just failed SafeSport certification exam — anyone else struggle with this?

So I'm a new youth soccer coach and my club requires SafeSport certification before I can step on the field with the kids. I went in pretty confident — I mean, I work with kids all the time and figured it was common sense stuff. Failed by 4 points. Now I have to wait before I can retest and I'm honestly embarrassed.

Has anyone found a good SAFESPORT practice test or study guide? The official training modules are like 3+ hours of videos and I watched them all, but the actual exam questions felt way more specific than the content covered. Things about mandatory reporting timelines, specific definitions under federal law, that kind of thing. I wasn't expecting it to be that detailed.

I've got two weeks until my retest. Planning to spend about 30 minutes a day reviewing. Would really appreciate any exam tips from people who've already passed — especially which topic areas to focus on. The emotional and physical misconduct definitions tripped me up badly.

Oh man, I went through this last year for my swim team coaching position. The part that gets everyone is the mandatory reporting section — you need to know the exact 24-hour reporting window and who counts as a 'covered adult.' I spent maybe 4-5 hours total studying and passed with an 82. Honestly re-reading the definitions section of the official handbook helped more than rewatching the videos.

The exam is trickier than people expect because a lot of questions are scenario-based, not just definitions. Like they'll describe a situation and ask what you're required to do. I found that really understanding the difference between 'grooming behaviors' vs. 'misconduct' made a huge difference for me. Also don't skip the digital safety module — I almost did and I think two questions came from it.

You'll get it on the retake, don't stress. Most people I know in youth sports had to take it twice. Just make sure you know the MinorSafe protocols cold — that section alone is worth like 20% of the exam from what I remember.
