Finally passed RTC exam after failing twice — here's what actually worked
So I just got my results back and I passed with a 78, which honestly felt like winning the lottery after bombing it two times before. First attempt I went in way too casual — figured I'd been working in transport coordination for three years and didn't need to study much. Wrong. Second time I bought a random study guide off Amazon that felt nothing like the real thing. Wasted $40 and another exam fee.
What finally clicked for me was actually doing structured practice questions instead of just re-reading the material. I spent about four weeks going through an RTC practice test every other night after work, then reviewing every wrong answer until I understood the "why" not just the right letter. The scheduling and dispatch scenarios were killing me until I forced myself to slow down on those.
Curious if anyone else found the ethics and liability sections harder than expected? I underestimated those completely my first two times. Would love to compare RTC exam tips with people who've been through it recently — the content seems to shift a bit year to year.
