Finally passed my RH exam after two attempts — here's what actually helped

So I just got my results back yesterday and I'm still kind of in shock — passed with a 78 on my second attempt. First time I went in pretty confident after just reading through the material and absolutely bombed it. Scored a 61. That wake-up call made me completely rethink my approach.

What changed everything for me was actually doing a structured RH practice test every single day for the last three weeks. Not just reading the answers but really understanding why each one was right or wrong. I also found a solid study guide that broke down the pharmacology section in a way that finally clicked — that section alone killed me on attempt one.

For anyone currently prepping, my biggest exam tips would be: don't underestimate the clinical judgment questions, they're nothing like the knowledge recall stuff. Give yourself at least 6-8 weeks if you're working full time. What's everyone else's experience been with the harder topic areas? Happy to share more specifics about what resources I used.

Congrats! Two attempts is actually pretty common for this one — don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I passed on my first try but I put in about 9 weeks of prep and honestly the practice tests were non-negotiable. The pharmacology and fetal monitoring sections are where most people fall apart. I'd spend at least 40% of your study time there if you're still preparing.

This is exactly what I needed to read right now. I'm scheduled for next month and I've been freaking out. Can I ask which study guide you used? I've got three different books and honestly I think I'm overwhelming myself. Also did you find the actual exam harder or easier than the practice questions? That's the thing I'm most nervous about.

The clinical judgment piece is so real. I kept trying to memorize protocols and that completely backfired. Once I shifted to thinking through patient scenarios instead, my practice scores jumped like 12 points in two weeks. Trust the process — it does click eventually.
