Finally passed my RCMP written exam after three attempts — here's what worked
So I've been trying to get into the RCMP for almost two years now and the written exam kept tripping me up. Failed it twice before I finally sat down and got serious about studying. My scores on the cognitive abilities section were embarrassing — like 58% the first time. Not going to sugarcoat it.
What actually turned things around was using a structured RCMP practice test routine instead of just reading the study guide cover to cover. I was doing 2-3 timed practice sessions a week, focusing hard on the memory recall and written communication sections since those were my weak spots. Found some solid exam tips in a few prep communities that helped me understand what the assessors are actually looking for in the composition portion.
Ended up scoring 81% on my third attempt. If anyone else is grinding through this process, happy to share what resources I used and how I structured my 8-week prep schedule. This community helped me a ton so figured I'd give something back.
