Applied for a municipal police officer position in BC and the POPAT (Police Officer Physical Aptitude Test) is required. I'm reasonably fit — gym 3x/week, occasional running — but I've never trained specifically for the POPAT circuit. The 4-minute time standard sounds doable but I've heard the accumulated fatigue across all stages is the killer.
How far out from your test date did you start POPAT-specific training and what did the program look like?

Start 12 weeks out minimum. The POPAT is cardiovascular endurance plus explosive power — a mix most regular gym-goers aren't trained for specifically. Stair circuits, shuttle runs, and push/pull strength work are your main training tools.

The mat jumps and vault get a lot of people who are otherwise fit because they practice the movement pattern wrong. Get to a POPAT training session in person if at all possible — the mechanics matter and are hard to learn from video alone.

Don't neglect the dummy drag. It's deceptively tiring after the earlier stages and your grip will be shot. Specific farmer carry and forearm training helps. Most people underestimate it.
