Okay so I'm officially frustrated. I've been trying to get my certification for about four months now and I've failed twice — first time by 6 points, second time by 3. I'm clearly getting closer but I can't figure out what's tripping me up. I've been using a couple different textbooks but honestly the way the actual exam phrases questions is completely different from anything I studied.
A friend suggested I try an Other Skilled Trades Welding practice test to get a feel for the question format, and it actually helped me realize I was overthinking the safety and code sections. Has anyone else found that practicing with timed tests made a bigger difference than just re-reading material? I do about 2 hours of studying on weekdays and maybe 4 on weekends.
My weak spots seem to be blueprint reading and material calculations — anyone have a solid Other Skilled Trades study guide recommendation or specific exam tips for those areas? I need to pass this next attempt, I've got a job offer contingent on getting certified.
