Anyone else studying for CERTIFIED in the next month? Want to study together

What helped me most with cw specifically: stop thinking about it as a topic to memorize and start thinking about the types of decisions it's asking you to make. Once I shifted to that frame, my certified-welder scores in that section jumped about 17 points within a week.

The advice about understanding why wrong answers are wrong — not just memorizing right ones — is genuinely the best certified-welder advice in this thread. Rebuilt my prep around that and it made a real difference.

Failed first attempt, came back to this thread. The consensus on certified-welder practice test being the make-or-break area is right. Focusing almost exclusively on applied questions this time around.

Quick update: just cleared 86% on my most recent certified-welder practice set using certified welder test. Sitting for the real thing in 4 weeks. Feeling cautiously optimistic.

I'm in the same boat, taking mine in about 5 weeks. The thing that's helped me most is drilling the wrong answers until I actually understand WHY they're wrong, not just flagging them and moving on. It's slower but it sticks way better because on exam day you can't just pattern-match your way through it.

If you want to compare notes I'm down. I've been working through the visual inspection and discontinuity sections mostly because those tripped me up early and I didn't want to just memorize acceptable ranges without understanding the reasoning behind them. Knowing the "why" means you can work through a question even if the wording throws you off.
