Failed the OSU exam twice — what finally helped me pass

So I've been lurking here for a while and finally made an account because I want to share what actually worked after two failed attempts. I took the OSU certification exam back in February and March, both times scoring just below passing — like 68% when I needed a 70. I was using random YouTube videos and my old textbook and honestly just winging it.

What changed everything was actually sitting down with a structured OSU study guide and being honest about which domains I was weak in. For me it was the operational safety and equipment calibration sections. I also started doing timed OSU practice test runs every single day for two weeks straight, which forced me to get comfortable with the question format and stop second-guessing myself.

Third attempt I scored 79%. If you're stuck, stop rereading notes and start doing practice questions under real conditions. Happy to share more exam tips if anyone's prepping right now — just drop your questions below.

This is exactly what I needed to read today. I'm scheduled for my first attempt in three weeks and I keep falling into the trap of just rereading my notes. Switching to active practice makes so much sense. Can I ask how many practice questions you were doing per day? I've been doing maybe 20-30 but I'm wondering if I need to push that higher closer to test day.

The two-week timed practice sprint is legit advice. I did something similar before my attempt last fall. One thing I'd add — don't just check if you got the answer right, actually read the explanation for every wrong answer. I probably learned more from my mistakes in practice than from any of my initial studying. Also watch out for questions that use double negatives, they love those.

Congrats on passing the third time! Persistence like that is honestly impressive. The operational safety section tripped me up too — way more detail-heavy than I expected. Good luck to everyone else prepping, it's definitely passable if you put in the structured work.
