Okay so I've been in automotive sales for about three years and my dealership finally told me I needed to get my OMVIC certification sorted out or they'd have to let me go. No pressure, right? I failed the exam twice before I started taking the prep seriously, and honestly both times I went in thinking I knew enough from working the floor. Big mistake. The legislation questions especially — MVDA stuff, dealer obligations, consumer protections — there's so much detail that just knowing the general idea isn't enough.
What finally turned things around for me was actually sitting down with a proper OMVIC study guide and doing timed practice runs instead of just reading. I found an OMVIC practice test that covered the advertising standards and contract requirements sections really thoroughly, and those two areas showed up heavily on my actual exam. Took me about 40 hours of focused studying over three weeks.
Anyone else here studying for OMVIC right now? Curious what topics are tripping people up — happy to share more of what worked for me.
