Finally passed OACP after failing twice — here's what actually worked

So I just got my results back last week and I finally passed the OACP on my third attempt. Honestly thought I was never going to get through this thing. The first two times I just relied on reading the manual and a couple of YouTube videos, and I kept scoring in the low 60s when you need a 70 to pass. Totally demoralizing.

What changed for me was actually using a proper OACP practice test to identify my weak spots instead of just re-reading material I thought I already knew. Turns out I was really weak on use of force scenarios and the POPAT fitness standards — stuff I assumed I understood but couldn't actually apply under pressure. I'd spend maybe 90 minutes a day for six weeks, focusing heavily on practice questions, and that repetition made a huge difference.

Anyone else here prepping for their OACP right now? Happy to share more about what topics tripped me up or what my study schedule looked like. It's a tough exam but it's definitely passeable if you approach it the right way.

Three attempts is way more common than people admit. There's so much stigma around not passing the first time but the OACP is legitimately hard, especially the situational judgment section. My biggest exam tip is to stop second-guessing your first instinct on those scenario questions — I kept changing answers and talked myself out of correct ones. Drove up my anxiety and hurt my score. Trust the prep you put in.

Congrats on passing! I'm scheduled for mine in about eight weeks and I'm nervous. I've been using an OACP study guide but honestly the written portion feels manageable — it's the WCT and POPAT that keep me up at night. Did you do much physical prep alongside your written studying, or did you treat them separately? I keep hearing the physical standards catch people off guard even when they think they're fit enough.

Which practice test resource did you end up using? I've seen a few different ones floating around and it's hard to know which ones actually mirror the real exam format. Would really appreciate a recommendation from someone who's been through the full process.
