Finally passed the NEDP after two attempts — here's what actually helped
I've been sitting on this post for a week because I wanted to make sure I actually passed before getting anyone's hopes up. Long story short: I failed my first attempt back in February by about 12 points, and I just got my results Tuesday — passed with a 78. Not a perfect score by any means, but I'll take it.
What changed the second time around was how I studied. First attempt I basically just read through the official materials and figured that'd be enough. It wasn't. This time I used a NEDP practice test I found online to figure out which domains I was actually weak on — turns out it was the documentation and portfolio assessment sections, which I'd been completely underestimating. I also picked up a NEDP study guide that broke down the competency areas way more clearly than the official handbook does.
For anyone prepping right now: don't skip the practical application sections even if the theory feels more testable. The scenario-based questions tripped me up constantly on my first try. Happy to share more specific exam tips if anyone's in the middle of studying — just ask.
