Finally passed NAHP after two attempts — here's what actually helped

So I passed the NAHP exam last Tuesday and I honestly can't believe it. I failed the first time back in March — scored a 68% when you need a 75 to pass — and I was devastated. I'd been working in a healthcare staffing office for almost two years and my supervisor basically said I needed this certification to move into a coordinator role. No pressure, right?

What changed the second time around was actually being systematic about it. I stopped just reading the study guide cover to cover and started doing timed practice sections instead. Finding a solid NAHP practice test online was a game-changer — I did at least 2-3 sets per week for about six weeks. I focused hardest on medical terminology, healthcare staffing regulations, and the legal/compliance questions because those tripped me up the first time.

My exam tips for anyone prepping: don't underestimate the ethics section, and read every question twice. There are a lot of "best answer" traps. Total study time second round was probably 40-45 hours spread over those six weeks. Anyone else here studying for the NAHP right now? Happy to answer questions.

Two attempts is nothing to be embarrassed about — I know people who took it three times. The ethics and legal compliance questions are brutal because so many answers sound correct. I passed on my first try but I studied for almost three months. Honestly the practice test approach you described is exactly what my study group did too. Timed practice under realistic conditions makes a huge difference when you're sitting there for real.

Congrats! I'm sitting for mine in about five weeks and this is exactly what I needed to hear. I've been relying too much on just reading the manual and honestly retaining almost nothing. Which areas did you find had the most questions on the actual exam? I've heard compliance and staffing law are heavily weighted but I want to make sure I'm not missing anything obvious.

This gives me so much hope. I've been putting off scheduling mine because I'm scared to fail. Setting a date no matter what — sometimes you just need a deadline to actually commit to the prep.
