Failed MN DMV written test twice — what am I missing?

Okay so I'm kind of embarrassed to admit this but I've failed the Minnesota knowledge test twice now and I'm starting to lose my mind. The first time I only got a 72% and needed a 80% to pass, which whatever, I hadn't really studied. But I spent two weeks going through the MN driver's manual before my second attempt and still only pulled a 76%. I don't get it.

The stuff that keeps tripping me up seems to be right-of-way scenarios and the specific speed limits in school zones vs. construction zones. I've been using a couple of free MN DMV practice test sites but honestly the questions feel nothing like what actually shows up at the testing center. Has anyone found resources that actually match the real exam format? I've seen some people mention paying for a study guide — is that worth it?

I need to get my license before June because I started a new job that requires driving. Any exam tips from people who've been through this recently would be seriously appreciated.

I failed once too, don't sweat it. What finally worked for me was doing timed practice sets instead of just reading the manual. The real test moves faster than you expect and you second-guess yourself. I used the MN DMV practice test on the DVS website plus a couple of third-party ones for variety. Did like 200+ practice questions over a week and passed with an 88%. Right-of-way stuff just clicks after enough repetition, I promise.

The construction zone speed limits are genuinely confusing because there's a difference between when workers are present vs. not. That tripped me up on a practice test too. Also — and this sounds obvious — read every answer choice before picking. I was rushing and kept choosing the first plausible-sounding option. Slowing down on the actual exam bumped my score way up. What specific scenarios are you getting wrong? Happy to talk through them if you remember any.

Passed mine last month after failing once. Honestly the DVS official manual PDF is your best friend — bookmark the speed limit tables on pages 52-55 and memorize those cold. Everything else kind of flows from understanding the base rules. Good luck, you've got this.
