Failed the IICRC WRT — what to do differently the second time

Got my results yesterday and didn't pass. I'm frustrated but trying to stay focused on what to fix rather than dwelling on it. Writing this partly to process it and partly because I know others will be in the same spot.

My weakest area was iicrc wrt — I knew going in that it was shaky but underestimated how much the exam weighted it. The questions weren't unfair, I just didn't have the depth I needed.

I'm rebuilding my study plan around the free iicrc wrt water categories and classification questions and answers and going much slower this time — no more rushing through topics I think I know. Planning to take 5 more weeks before rescheduling.

Anyone else been through a IICRC WRT retake? What specifically changed in your approach that made the difference? And is it normal to feel like the second attempt is actually harder because of the pressure?

Really helpful breakdown, thanks for sharing. I'm at week 3 of my IICRC WRT prep and the wrt iicrc section is exactly where I'm struggling too. Going to try the approach you described and see if it moves my scores.

Good thread. One thing I'd add: don't try to cram the night before. I did 4 hours the night before my IICRC WRT and I think it hurt more than helped. Your brain needs consolidation time. Light review or full rest is better.

Same experience here. The free iicrc wrt water categories and classification questions and answers was what finally made it click for me — specifically the way it explains the reasoning rather than just giving answers. Took me 2 weeks of consistent practice but scores went from 68% to 84% by exam day.

For the people asking about study timelines: I studied 73 minutes per day for 10 weeks working full time. It's absolutely doable without burning out. The key is consistency — missing days hurts more than extending your timeline.
