Finally passed MAAP after two attempts — here's what actually helped

So I just got my results back this morning and I actually passed. Honestly wasn't sure it was going to happen after I failed by 4 points the first time around. I've been working in automotive aftermarket parts for about six years and figured the MAAP certification would help me move into a supervisory role, but man, the exam covers way more than I expected — especially the inventory management and supplier relations sections.

What changed for me the second time was being a lot more structured about my prep. I spent about three weeks using a MAAP practice test to identify my weak spots before I touched any other material. Found out I was terrible on the pricing strategy questions, which I thought I'd be fine on. Also grabbed a study guide that broke down the competency areas into smaller chunks, which made everything feel less overwhelming.

Anyone else taking this soon? Happy to share the specific exam tips that helped me — especially around time management during the test itself, which tripped me up badly in round one.

Congrats! I'm scheduled for mine in six weeks and lowkey panicking. The inventory stuff is killing me too. How many hours total do you think you put in for your second attempt? I've been doing maybe an hour a night but I'm wondering if I need to ramp that up. What practice test resource did you use — was it close to the real thing?

Two attempts and you stuck with it — that's the part most people don't talk about. A lot of folks just give up after a fail. The study guide grind is real but it works. Good luck with the promotion.

The pricing and supplier sections are no joke. I passed on my first attempt but only barely — scored a 74 and I think the pass mark was 70. Honestly the exam tips I got from a colleague who'd already gone through it were more useful than any book. Stuff like: don't second-guess your first answer, and skip the calculation questions and come back to them last.
