Just failed LSIT by 4 points — what am I missing in my prep?

So I got my results back last week and I'm honestly gutted. I scored a 66 and you need a 70 to pass. I've been studying on and off for about three months, mostly using a study guide I bought online and watching some YouTube videos about land surveying principles. I thought I had the math sections down but clearly something isn't clicking.

I'm registered for the next exam window and I really need to change my approach. Has anyone found a solid LSIT practice test resource that actually mirrors the real exam format? I feel like I need to drill specific question types rather than just re-reading chapters. My weak spots are definitely boundary law and geodetic surveying — the computational stuff trips me up under time pressure.

Any exam tips from people who've been through this would be huge. How many hours did you actually put in before you passed? And did anyone use prep materials from NSPS or go third-party?

I passed on my second attempt too, so I know exactly how demoralizing that near-miss feels. What finally made the difference for me was doing timed practice sets instead of just reading. I aimed for 50 practice questions per day for six weeks straight. The boundary law questions especially — you have to get comfortable with the legal descriptions fast or you'll burn your time budget on those alone.

Geodetic surveying was my nightmare too. Honestly the NCEES reference material is underrated — a lot of people ignore it but knowing what's in there cold saves you from blanking on formulas mid-exam. Also worth finding a study group if you can. I joined one through my state surveying society and talking through problems out loud helped way more than solo studying ever did.

Four points is so close, you clearly know this material. Focus your remaining weeks only on your weak spots — don't waste time reviewing stuff you already have. Boundary law and geodetic are worth a big chunk of the exam, so nailing those two could be the difference.
