Taking the LOTE exam next month — where do I even start?

So I finally registered for the LOTE exam after putting it off for almost a year, and now I'm kind of panicking. My test date is June 28th and I honestly don't know where to begin. I've been teaching Spanish at the middle school level for three years, so I feel decent about the language itself, but the actual exam format is throwing me off. Is it mostly written? Oral components? Multiple choice? I've been trying to find a solid LOTE study guide but half the resources I've come across feel outdated or super generic.

I started doing a LOTE practice test I found online last week and scored around a 68%, which I know isn't passing territory. The listening comprehension section wrecked me — I didn't realize how fast the audio clips move. My goal is to hit at least an 80 before test day. Has anyone gone through this recently and can share what actually helped? Specific exam tips would be huge right now. I'm carving out about 90 minutes a day to study but want to make sure I'm spending that time on the right things.

I took mine back in October and the listening section tripped me up too — don't sleep on that. What helped me was listening to native-speed podcasts in my target language every single day for the last three weeks. Also, timed practice tests are non-negotiable. I was scoring in the low 70s initially and bumped up to an 84 by test day. Give yourself at least two full timed runs before the real thing.

Honestly the format varies a bit depending on which language you're testing in, so make sure you're looking at materials specific to yours. I took the French version and there was a written response section that I completely underestimated. What helped me most was finding a study partner who was also prepping — we'd do mock oral exchanges twice a week. How many weeks out are you exactly? You might have more runway than you think.

68% with a month to go is totally workable, don't stress. Focus your 90 minutes like this: 30 on listening drills, 30 on reading timed passages, 30 on written production. That split made a huge difference for me. You'll get there.
