Anyone found good free SSPO study resources besides the obvious ones?
I've already gone through the standard "police officer" results on Google and most of it is just selling prep courses. Looking for actual free resources.
What I've tried:
- Practice tests here (solid, especially for maine police officer arrested by ice)
- A few YouTube channels but the quality is all over the place
- Reddit threads from 2+ years ago (some outdated)
What I haven't tried yet:
- The official SSPO study guide — is it actually worth reading cover to cover?
- Library resources — anyone actually found useful materials there?
- Specific YouTube channels that cover police officer news well
I don't mind paying for something that's genuinely better than free, but I want to max out free options first. Budget is tight.
What resources did you use that you'd actually recommend?
Quick update for this thread: just cleared 83% on my most recent SSPO practice set. The police officer practice test pdf has been my main resource and the difficulty feels right — not easy enough to give false confidence, not so hard it's discouraging. Sitting for the real thing in 2 weeks.
What helped me most with police officer specifically: stop thinking about it as a topic to memorize and start thinking about the types of decisions it's asking you to make. Once I shifted to that frame, my SSPO scores in that section jumped about 18 points within a week.
Great discussion. One thing nobody mentions: sleep the night before matters more than one more study session. Went in fully rested for my SSPO and felt sharper than expected.
The advice about understanding why wrong answers are wrong — not just memorizing right ones — is genuinely the best SSPO advice in this thread. Rebuilt my prep around that and it made a real difference.
