Which section of the MLPAO is hardest? My breakdown after taking it

Just finished the MLPAO and wanted to give a detailed breakdown of the difficulty by section for people currently studying.

The mlpa stock questions were the most challenging by far — not because they're tricky, but because they require you to apply concepts rather than just recall them. I studied that section twice as hard after my practice scores showed a consistent gap there.

The easier wins are in the foundational areas where memorization pays off. I recommend starting with the mlpa stock to get a feel for question style. For the conceptual side, mlpao test gives you the background context the practice tests assume you already have.

My advice: don't neglect the applied sections even if the theory feels comfortable. The exam is designed to catch people who understand concepts in isolation but struggle with real-world scenarios.

Failed my first attempt, came back to this thread for motivation. The advice about really understanding why wrong answers are wrong — not just memorizing the right ones — is the single best piece of advice I've seen for the MLPAO. Rebuilding my prep around that principle now. Using mlpao test for the concept review.

Good thread. One thing I'd add: don't try to cram the night before. I did 3 hours the night before my MLPAO and I think it hurt more than helped. Your brain needs consolidation time. Light review or full rest is better.

Congrats on passing! Can I ask — how many questions did the actual exam have compared to what the practice tests simulate? I've seen different numbers online and want to calibrate my timing during practice.

Quick update for this thread: just cleared 85% on my most recent MLPAO practice set. The mlpa stock has been my main resource and the difficulty feels right — not easy enough to give false confidence, not so hard it's discouraging. Sitting for the real thing in 4 weeks.
