Finally scheduled my IBLCE exam — anyone have study tips that actually helped?

So I finally bit the bullet and scheduled my IBLCE exam for July 15th. I've been an IBCLC for almost two years under supervision and honestly the studying part is stressing me out more than I expected. I have Counseling the Nursing Mother sitting on my desk but every time I open it I feel like I'm drowning. Does anyone have a realistic study plan that worked for them?

I've been using an IBLCE practice test site to get a feel for the question style and I noticed the clinical scenarios are way harder than I anticipated — especially the ones about anatomical variations and latch issues in premature infants. My practice scores are hovering around 68-72% and I know I need at least 75% to feel confident going in. I've got about 9 weeks left.

Also wondering if anyone found a study guide that actually mirrors the current exam domains. The 2022 blueprint shift threw me off — some older resources feel out of date. Any recommendations would be genuinely appreciated.

Nine weeks is totally doable, I promise. I passed on my first attempt last November with about 8 weeks of focused prep. What really moved my scores was drilling the D-MER and hyperlactation questions — those tripped me up constantly on practice tests. Also, Core Curriculum for Lactation Consultant Practice is dense but aligns really well with the current blueprint. I spent about 2 hours a day, more on weekends.

68-72% on practice exams with 9 weeks out is actually a solid starting point. Focus hard on the Anatomy & Physiology domain if that's where you're dropping points — it's worth the grind. You've got this!

Honestly the clinical scenario questions are what got me the first time I took it (yes, I failed — it happens). The second time around I stopped trying to memorize facts and started thinking through each question like I was actually at a bedside consult. What's the priority here? What do I assess first? That shift in mindset bumped my practice scores by almost 10 points in three weeks. Don't underestimate the psych/counseling domain either, it's bigger than people expect.
