Which section of the CABT is hardest? My breakdown after taking it
Just finished the CABT and wanted to give a detailed breakdown of the difficulty by section for people currently studying.
The cabt questions were the most challenging by far — not because they're tricky, but because they require you to apply concepts rather than just recall them. I studied that section twice as hard after my practice scores showed a consistent gap there.
The easier wins are in the foundational areas where memorization pays off. I recommend starting with the cabt to get a feel for question style. For the conceptual side, certified associate in biomedical technology gives you the background context the practice tests assume you already have.
My advice: don't neglect the applied sections even if the theory feels comfortable. The exam is designed to catch people who understand concepts in isolation but struggle with real-world scenarios.
For the people asking about study timelines: I studied 60 minutes per day for 13 weeks working full time. It's absolutely doable without burning out. The key is consistency — missing days hurts more than extending your timeline.
This is exactly the thread I needed. I sit for my CABT in 3 weeks and have been second-guessing my prep. The cabt area you mentioned is definitely my weak spot. Thanks for the honest breakdown.
Coming back to this thread — just passed my CABT yesterday. Everything about the cabt practice test section is accurate. For anyone still studying, the cabt fundamentals of electronics was the closest thing to the real exam I found.
Failed first attempt, came back to this thread. The consensus on cabt practice test being the make-or-break area is right. Focusing almost exclusively on applied questions this time around.
