Which section of the CSJT is hardest? My breakdown after taking it

Just finished the CSJT and wanted to give a detailed breakdown of the difficulty by section for people currently studying.

The exam prep questions were the most challenging by far — not because they're tricky, but because they require you to apply concepts rather than just recall them. I studied that section twice as hard after my practice scores showed a consistent gap there.

The easier wins are in the foundational areas where memorization pays off. I recommend starting with the free csjt working together and collaboration questions and answers to get a feel for question style. For the conceptual side, csjt test gives you the background context the practice tests assume you already have.

My advice: don't neglect the applied sections even if the theory feels comfortable. The exam is designed to catch people who understand concepts in isolation but struggle with real-world scenarios.

For what it's worth — I've taken the CSJT twice now. First attempt I underestimated the practice test questions. Second time I focused almost exclusively on applied practice and passed comfortably. The difference is real.

Late to this thread but wanted to add — the practice test section trips up more people than any other part. If you're scoring below 73% there in practice, treat it as your only focus for at least a week before moving on. Breadth at the expense of depth in that area is a common mistake.

This is exactly the thread I needed. I sit for my CSJT in 4 weeks and have been second-guessing my prep. The study guide area you mentioned is definitely my weak spot. Thanks for the honest breakdown.

The part about reviewing wrong answers thoroughly is so underrated. Most people just move on after getting something wrong. Going back to understand the concept is what actually builds retention for the CSJT.

Honestly I almost bailed two weeks before my test date. The practice questions had me convinced I just wasn't smart enough for this thing -- I kept missing the application-style questions even when I thought I understood the concept. What actually helped was forcing myself to explain wrong answers out loud, which sounds dumb but it worked.

You're right that it's not about tricky wording. It's about whether you actually get the "why." Once that clicked for me the sections felt way more manageable. I passed with scores I wasn't expecting, so don't give up when it feels hopeless because that feeling hit me hard and it didn't mean I was going to fail.

Honestly the resource management section caught me off guard more than anything else. I'd been drilling practice questions all week but I kept missing the ones that made you actually think through allocation scenarios from scratch. What finally clicked was doing the csjt/questions/resource management and planning 3 set a few days before the test — it's structured differently than the earlier ones and forced me to slow down and reason through each step instead of pattern-matching.

Once I stopped rushing and actually mapped out the logic before picking an answer, my accuracy on that whole section jumped. If you're still prepping, don't skip it thinking you've already covered planning concepts. It's not the same.
