Finally passed my GH exam after two attempts — here's what actually helped

Okay so I've been lurking here for months and figured I owe it to this community to share my experience. Failed my first attempt back in March with a 68 — needed a 75 to pass. Honestly I thought I'd studied enough but the actual exam hit topics I completely glossed over, especially the occupational health surveillance and program evaluation sections. Humbling experience.

For round two I completely changed my approach. I found a solid GH practice test that simulated the real timing and question style, which was huge because my first attempt I ran out of time on the last section. I also switched to a structured study guide instead of just reading through my notes randomly. Spent about six weeks, maybe 90 minutes a night, really focusing on environmental hazard assessment and industrial hygiene fundamentals.

Passed with an 82 last week. If anyone's prepping right now and wants specific exam tips or wants to compare resources, drop a comment — happy to talk through what clicked for me.

Congrats! I'm sitting for mine in July and the time pressure is exactly what scares me most. Did you find the practice questions matched the difficulty of the real thing, or were they easier? I've been going back and forth between two different prep resources and can't decide which to commit to. Also curious how much weight the ventilation and toxicology stuff carried on your exam.

Two attempts is way more common than people admit on here. I passed on my second try too and the biggest difference for me was drilling questions under timed conditions every single session instead of just passively reviewing material. Your brain just works differently when there's a clock running. The exam tips about prioritizing occupational exposure limits paid off big for me — that content showed up constantly.

That score jump from 68 to 82 is seriously impressive. Six weeks of consistent study beats a frantic month of cramming every time. Nice work sticking with it.
