So I've been studying for my GDPR certification for about three weeks now and honestly I'm a bit overwhelmed. I work in HR and my company is pushing us to get certified by end of Q3, but the scope of this thing is massive — data subject rights, lawful bases for processing, controller vs. processor obligations... it just keeps going.

I've been using a GDPR study guide I found online but I'm not sure it's covering everything that actually shows up on the exam. Has anyone taken a GDPR practice test that they'd actually recommend? I want something that mimics the real question style, not just flashcards. I scored 61% on my first mock and I need at least 75% to pass.

Would love to hear what worked for you — how many hours did you put in, which topics tripped you up most, any GDPR exam tips you wish you had before sitting? Especially curious about Articles 6 and 9 since those seem to pop up constantly. Thanks in advance.

Articles 6 and 9 are definitely where most people stumble — you're right to focus there. For me the turning point was drilling on scenarios rather than just memorizing the articles. I used a GDPR practice test site that gave situational questions and my score jumped from 63% to 81% in about two weeks. Give yourself at least 40 hours total study time if you're doing this seriously.

Don't sleep on Recitals — they're not legally binding but examiners love using them to test whether you understand the intent behind the articles. Also, do timed practice runs in the last week before your exam. Timing was my biggest issue on test day, not the content itself. Good luck!

Honestly the controller vs processor distinction tripped me up more than anything. My study guide glossed over it but the exam had like four or five questions just on that. Also pay close attention to breach notification timelines — 72 hours keeps coming up. What certification body are you going through? The question style varies a lot between IAPP and some of the smaller providers.
