So I've been lurking here for a while and figured I'd finally post since I see a lot of people asking about the GAP exam. I failed my first attempt in February (scored a 68, needed a 75) and then failed again in April by just 4 points. I was honestly ready to give up on the whole thing.
What finally clicked for me was ditching my textbook-only approach. I started using a GAP practice test site to simulate the actual exam conditions — timed sections, multiple choice format, the works. I also found a solid study guide that broke down the financial concepts in plain English instead of jargon. Spent about 3 weeks doing 90-minute sessions, 4 days a week.
Third attempt last month: 82. I honestly think the biggest exam tip I can share is to focus heavily on the accounting and valuation sections — they're worth more than you'd expect and a lot of people (including me the first two times) underestimate them. Anyone else here prepping right now? Happy to share more specifics.
