Finally passed FMCLA after failing twice — here's what actually worked

So I've been trying to get my FMCLA certification for almost a year now and honestly I was starting to think it just wasn't going to happen. Failed the first attempt by 4 points, second time by 2. At that point I was spending money I didn't really have on retakes and my confidence was pretty much shot.

What finally clicked was ditching my old study method (just re-reading the handbook over and over) and actually working through a proper FMCLA practice test to see where my weak spots were. Turns out I was terrible on the compliance and recordkeeping sections — never would've guessed that without actually seeing my score breakdown. I put together a study guide focused specifically on those areas and gave myself 6 weeks before attempting again.

Third time I passed with a 78. Not exactly a victory lap score but I'll take it. If you're prepping right now, what sections are you finding hardest? Happy to share the specific exam tips that helped me on the compliance side especially.

Congrats! Seriously, two near-misses would've made most people quit. The recordkeeping section got me too — there's so much overlap between federal and state requirements that it's easy to mix them up under pressure. I ended up making flashcards just for the documentation timelines and that helped a ton. What score were you aiming for going into the third attempt?

This is really encouraging to read. I'm scheduled for my first attempt in three weeks and I'm honestly terrified. Been using a mix of the official materials and some practice questions I found online but I'm not sure if I'm covering everything. Do you remember roughly how many questions were scenario-based versus straight recall? That's the part I'm least confident about.

The compliance section is no joke — I spent almost half my study time there. One thing that helped me was timing myself on practice sets so the actual exam didn't feel as rushed. Good luck to everyone still prepping!
