Anyone else struggling with the FAU exam? Need advice on where to start

So I've been putting off this FAU certification for about six months now and I finally signed up for a test date three weeks out. Honestly kind of panicking. I work full-time and only have evenings to study, so I need to be really strategic about what I focus on. I've heard the exam is heavier on certain domains than others but I can't find a straight answer on how to weight my prep time.

I started with an FAU practice test last weekend just to get a baseline and scored a 58%, which was humbling. I know that's not terrible for a first attempt but I need to be in the 75+ range to feel confident going in. Has anyone put together a solid study guide routine that actually worked? I've got the official materials but they're dense and I'm not sure I'm retaining much just reading through them.

Any exam tips from people who've already passed would seriously help. Specific topics that caught you off guard, how many hours you logged, whether practice questions actually reflect the real thing — all of it is useful at this point.

I was in almost the exact same spot last year. What finally clicked for me was doing practice questions every single day instead of reading — like 20-30 questions in the morning before work. Your 58% baseline is actually pretty normal. I started around 55% and passed on my first try after about 4 weeks of consistent work. The real exam felt harder than most free practice material I found, so I'd recommend finding something closer to exam difficulty if you can.

Three weeks is tight but totally doable if you're consistent. I passed with about 35 hours of total prep. The exam tips that helped me most: read every answer choice before picking one, and flag anything you're unsure about to revisit. Good luck — you've got this.

Honestly the study guide helped me less than I expected. What worked way better was making flashcards for the stuff I kept getting wrong on practice tests and drilling those specifically. Also don't sleep on the scenario-based questions — they make up a big chunk and require you to actually apply the concepts, not just memorize definitions. What domains are you weakest in right now? Might be able to point you toward where to focus.
