Finally passed F04 after two attempts — here's what actually helped

So I just got my results back yesterday and I passed with a 78, which honestly feels like a miracle after failing in March with a 64. I work full-time in operations and was trying to squeeze in study sessions whenever I could, which probably explains the first attempt. The thing that turned everything around was actually being more systematic about it instead of just reading through the material randomly.

What made the biggest difference was doing timed F04 practice test sets every single day for the last three weeks before my retake. Not just reading answers, but actually forcing myself to explain why the wrong answers were wrong. I also found a solid study guide that broke down the domain weightings, which I completely ignored the first time around. Knowing where the exam actually spends its points changed how I allocated my time.

For anyone else preparing, I'd say the operations and compliance sections are heavier than they look on the surface. Don't underestimate them. Happy to share the specific exam tips that helped me most if anyone wants to talk through their prep strategy.

Congrats on passing! I'm sitting for mine in six weeks and the compliance section is exactly what's stressing me out. Can I ask how many practice questions you were doing per day? I've been doing maybe 20-30 but I'm wondering if that's enough. Also did you use any specific resources for the domain breakdowns or just the official materials?

This is really encouraging to read. I keep putting off scheduling my date because I don't feel ready, but maybe I just need to commit and work backward from a deadline. How far out did you schedule your retake?

Two attempts is nothing to be embarrassed about — plenty of people I know took three. The point about explaining wrong answers is underrated advice. I passed on my first try but I credit almost all of that to forcing myself to write out a one-sentence reason for every wrong choice I selected. Felt tedious but it stuck. Good luck to everyone still in the middle of it.
