How long did you actually study for the Environmental Science exam?

So I've been stressing about my upcoming AP Environmental Science exam and I honestly can't figure out how much time I should be putting in. I started studying about three weeks ago but I feel like I keep circling back to the same topics — energy systems, sustainability, stuff like that — without really making progress. Does anyone have a sense of what score goals are realistic and how many hours per week you were putting in?

I've been using a mix of resources but I found that doing an Environmental Science Environmental Economics and Sustainability practice test helped me figure out where my actual gaps were, which I didn't expect. Like I thought I understood carbon markets but apparently not. My target is a 4, maybe a 5 if I can lock down the free-response section.

Any study guide recommendations or exam tips would be huge right now. I have about six weeks left and I'm trying to figure out if I should go deeper on content or just do more practice tests at this point.

I was in the same boat last year. What finally clicked for me was doing timed practice tests rather than just reviewing notes. The environmental economics section tripped me up at first too — the connection between policy and market incentives isn't intuitive. I ended up spending a full week just on that unit before everything started connecting. What textbook are you using? That made a bigger difference for me than I expected.

Honestly six weeks is plenty of time for a 4. I studied about 8-10 hours a week for the last month before my exam and got a 4 — I think I could've pushed to a 5 if I'd drilled free-response more consistently. My biggest exam tip: don't skip the math-based questions about energy consumption. A lot of people ignore those and they show up every year.

Six weeks is solid, don't panic. Focus on the APES study guide for your specific curriculum version and make sure you're doing at least two full practice tests before the real thing. Knowing your weak spots early is honestly half the battle.
