Finally passed my DWO exam after two attempts — here's what worked

So I just got my results back yesterday and I finally passed the DWO certification on my second try. Honestly feeling a mix of relief and frustration because I really thought I had it the first time around. I scored a 71 on attempt one, which was two points below passing. Devastating. I'd spent maybe three weeks studying but clearly not the right way.

What changed the second time was finding a solid DWO practice test that actually matched the format of the real thing. I was using a generic study guide before and it just didn't have the depth I needed on the technical sections — especially the operational procedures and safety protocols. I put in about 45 minutes a day for six weeks straight, focused on my weak areas, and came away with an 84. Night and day difference.

For anyone else prepping right now, my biggest exam tips would be: don't just read the material passively, quiz yourself constantly, and pay close attention to scenario-based questions because they made up probably a third of what I saw. Happy to answer any questions about the process if it helps.

Congrats! I'm scheduled for mine in about five weeks and this is exactly what I needed to hear. I've been drilling practice questions every night and I feel like my weak spot is the regulatory compliance section. Did you find that came up a lot on the actual exam? I keep second-guessing myself on those questions even when I think I know the answer.

Two points away from passing is absolutely brutal, I've been there with a different cert and it's demoralizing. I'm curious what study guide you ended up switching to — the one I'm currently using feels pretty surface-level and I'm about three weeks out from my test date. Also did you do any timed practice sessions or just work through questions at your own pace?

The scenario-based questions are no joke. I spent way too much time on pure memorization my first pass through the material. Simulating real test conditions made a huge difference for me — time pressure changes everything. Good luck to everyone still prepping.
