Finally passed DP-600 after two attempts — what actually helped

So I passed the DP-600 last Tuesday and honestly I'm still a little shocked. Failed my first attempt back in March with a 672 — needed a 700 — and I pretty much panicked and overhauled my entire study approach. I'm a data engineer with about four years of experience but the Fabric-specific stuff caught me off guard the first time. I'd been too confident going in.

The second time around I spent six weeks being really methodical. I used the official Microsoft learning paths, but what actually moved the needle was grinding through a solid DP 600 practice test bank — doing like 20-30 questions a night and reviewing every wrong answer until I understood the why, not just the answer. Lakehouses, data pipelines, and DirectLake mode were all heavily tested for me.

Happy to share my full breakdown if anyone wants it. Also curious — is anyone else finding the study guide options kind of scattered? Felt like I had to piece together resources from five different places.

Congrats! I'm sitting mine in three weeks and this is reassuring. I failed once too (680) and the OneLake architecture questions wrecked me. Started doing timed practice sets instead of just reading and my accuracy on those topics went from like 55% to 78% in two weeks. Repetition really is the thing, at least for me.

Which practice test bank were you using? I've tried two different ones and the question quality is all over the place — some feel outdated or way too easy compared to what people describe on the actual exam. My exam is in July so I've got time to switch resources if something's notably better. Also did you use any flashcards for the DAX and KQL bits?

The DirectLake questions are no joke. That topic alone probably cost me 15 points on my first try. Treat the exam tips in the official exam skills outline as a literal checklist — if it's listed, it will show up. Good luck everyone.
